Overview

Overall Rating: ⭐ 3.5 / 5

Recommended Age: 12 and up

The Star Wars franchise is one of the most popular movie series since its release in 1977. Its fantastical worlds and themes of good and evil have captivated audiences for years. And for the Star Wars fans who’ve wished to be a part of the world themselves, they can come as close as Star Wars: Battlefront, a video game based directly on the movies. This game gives players the chance to fight intergalactic battles, either with the Empire or with the rebels. Players get to interact with beloved characters from the movies as well as explore recognizable scenes from planets Endor, Tattooine, and more.

If your kid is a Star Wars and video game fanatic, this is certainly right up their alley! But let’s take a closer look at the game to ensure it’s safe for your child.

Harmful Content ❗️

Rating:

Star Wars Battlefront targets a broad audience and doesn’t have any overtly harmful content. Some parents may be concerned about the intense action sequences and battles, which could be overwhelming for young or highly sensitive children. However, the violence is not graphic, and the game lacks gore or explicit brutality.

This game is great for younger players or players who are just entering the world of gaming. The controls are super easy to navigate and most kids can learn how to play fairly quickly.

Some parents may appreciate that Star Wars: Battlefront does not have an in-game voice chat feature. So you won’t have to worry about your kid communicating with other players and being exposed to anything inappropriate while they play. However, the sequel, Star Wars: Battlefront II does have a built-in voice chat. If your child plays this, ensure you seek parental controls and have conversations with them about appropriate gameplay.

Language

There is no inappropriate language in this game.

Sex

Star Wars: Battlefront has no sexual content.

Violence

As mentioned, the premise of the game is that players are fighting battles based on scenes from the movies. These fights include the use of weapons such as blasters, lightsabers, and others. However, just as the violence in the Star Wars movies is not excessively gory, the violence in this game is also minimal and generally family-friendly.

Positive Value 💫

Rating:

Similar to many video games, Star Wars: Battlefront engages kids in their strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, playing with other players teaches them teamwork and how to accomplish a specific goal together.

The Star Wars franchise is also a great story for kids to immerse themselves in, for its positive moral themes regarding good versus evil, friendship, and taking part in a cause bigger than yourself.

So, should my kid play it?

Yes, Star Wars: Battlefront is a great game for around ages 12 and up!
