Wavelength: A Game Review for Parents

Updated November 6, 2026

Overview

Overall Rating: ⭐ 4.5 / 5

Recommended Age: 10 and up

Wavelength is a party game all about getting on the same page as your teammates. Each round, one player (the “psychic”) draws a card with two opposite ideas, like “hot” and “cold” or “overrated” and “underrated.” They secretly see where a hidden target sits on a dial between those two extremes, then give a one-word or short clue to help their team guess the exact spot. Teams take turns, and the closer you land, the more points you score. It’s quick to learn, works for big groups, and leads to plenty of laughs and friendly debate.

Harmful Content ❗️

Rating:

Wavelength doesn’t include any harmful content on its own. Like most open-ended party games, though, players come up with their own clues, so the tone of the game depends on who’s playing. Some spectrum cards also invite opinions on things like what’s “good” or “bad,” which could lead to edgy answers in some groups. For families with younger kids, a quick reminder to keep clues family-friendly goes a long way.

Language

This game doesn’t have any profanity or inappropriate language.

Sex

There is no sexual content in this game.

Violence

Wavelength doesn’t have any violent content.

Positive Value 💫

Rating:

Wavelength is great for building communication skills and empathy. To give a good clue, players have to think about how their teammates see the world, not just how they see it. Guessing teams have to talk it out, listen to each other, and reach a decision together. It also sparks fun conversations about opinions and perspectives, which can be a great way for families to learn more about each other.

So, should my kid play it?

Yes! The box lists ages 14 and up, but we think kids around 10 and older can easily jump in. Some of the more abstract cards may be tricky for younger players, but kids can team up with older players or skip any cards that go over their heads. It’s a great pick for family game night.
