Guardians of the Galaxy is a Marvel superhero movie that follows Peter Quill, a space traveler who steals a mysterious orb and becomes the target of dangerous enemies across the galaxy.
After being captured, Peter is forced to work with a band of alien criminals consisting of Gamora, Rocket, Groot, and Drax. The group doesn’t trust one another at first, but they soon learn that the orb contains a powerful weapon that could destroy an entire planet. To stop the villain Ronan, they have to put aside their differences and become an unlikely team.

Language
Adult language is fairly common. Words used include “h*ll,” “d*mn,” “a*s,” “b*tch,” “sh*t,” and “d*ck.” Characters also use insults, make crude jokes, and show an explicit hand gesture.
Sex
Sexual content is limited, but there are several jokes and references to Peter’s romantic relationships. Characters flirt, Peter and Gamora nearly kiss, and there are a few comments about attraction and sleeping with other people. There are no explicit sexual scenes or nudity.
Violence
Violence is very common throughout the movie. Characters fight with guns, knives, futuristic weapons, spaceships, and hand-to-hand combat. There are explosions, prison fights, large battles, and several characters are shot, stabbed, injured, or killed. The villains can be frightening, and several scenes involve threats, torture, destruction, and large numbers of people in danger. The movie also includes emotional scenes involving the death of Peter’s mother, the loss of family members, and a major act of sacrifice.
